Background:
Awakened
by the Beatles, Lasley picked up the guitar at age nine. His father
is a saxophonist and served as a storyboard artist for numerous
movie directors in the Los Angeles area. His mother, a native to
Spain's Basque lands, is a keyboardist and songwriter as well as
a professional flamenco dancer. While growing up in Malibu California,
musical talents that were often heard in the Lasley household included
Carlos Montoya, Segovia, Carlos Antonio Jobim, Stan Getz, Joao Gilberto,
Sergio Mendez, D'Jango Reinhardt, the Beatles and Bob Dylan.
Creative
Abilities: Lasley
is a talented Bossa Nova singer-songwriter as well as a polished
multi-instrumentalist. He plays a variety of instruments that include
acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, keyboards, flutes, ukulele
and drums.
He
has written, arranged, produced and performed several albums in
various styles including Latin/World Beat, Bossa Nova, Jazz, Rock,
Classical and progressive instrumental.
He
has also composed and performed musical scores for radio, TV commercials
and most recently, the Hollywood film industry through MasterSource,
Jingle Punks, Chess Records and Mediatone Music Inc.
In
Lasley's pursuit to formalize his knowledge of music, he currently
attends San Diego State University in pursuit of a Master's degree
in Musicology.
Lasley
has performed with Dan Folgelberg, Eliza Gylkison, Dan Bern, Dennis
Weaver, Jim Messina, Michael Weatherly (Actor NCIS), Jeff Fenholt
(Original lead in Jesus Christ Superstar), Justine Pasek (Miss Universe),
Tripp and Peter Sprague.
Recent
Work: Lasley's
Latin music is presently signed to Etherean Music, Inc. Two of his
newest musical compositions were signed to Mediatone Music Inc.
in early 2003. Ad campaigns for Colgate products (2002-2003) will
also be accompanied by Lasley's Latin beat.
Heartbreakers
(2001), a comedy release with Gene Hackman and Jennifer Love Hewitt,
features music by Lasley as well as other motion picture productions
such as Super Natural (2010), The Cook (2008), A Beautiful Friendship
(2007), Seven Days (2001), Miramax Pleasures (2001) and Chips (1999)
.
Since
1990, Lasley has released three Latin style albums through World
Disc Music. They include Latin Moon (1996), Native Soul (1995) and
Canciones de Llamas (1994). Additionally, "works for hire" include
songwriting projects for North Sound (1997), vocal tracks for Peter
Sprague (2002) and a holiday CD for the Hotel Del Coronado (2001).
In
total, Lasley has 8 CDs to his credit: Bossa Nova e Voce (2008),
Fireheart (2005), Gypsy Noveau (2004), Beat Nova (2003), Latin Christmas
(2002), Alicia (2001), Latin Moon (1996), Native Soul (1995) and
Canciones de Llamas (1989)..
